ROKER RECEIVES HONORARY DOCTORATE FROM
NEW YORK COLLEGE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS

for Doctor of Humane Letters presented by Donald Spector, Chairman
and Lisa Pamintuan, President
SYOSSET, NY (MAY 3, 2006) - New York College of Health Professions,
one of the leading colleges of holistic medicine in the United States,
announced today that Al Roker, host of NBC’s The Today Show,
will serve as this year’s graduation speaker. The College will
air a pre-taped video recorded by Mr. Roker congratulating this year’s
graduates and offering an inspirational message before they enter
into one of the fastest growing fields of healthcare – holistic
medicine. The school will also be presenting Al Roker with an honorary
doctorate for his commitment to the holistic health and nutrition
community.
“The
inclusion of Al Roker into the New York College family is a welcome
addition,” said Lisa Pamintuan, President of New York College
of Health Professions. “Mr. Roker is one of the most beloved
persons in the world and his address to our graduates is a very special
honor.”
As weatherman
and a host of NBC's The Today Show, Mr. Roker greets more than 30
million viewers each week as America prepares for work. A nine-time
Emmy Award winner, Mr. Roker conducts celebrity interviews, cooking
segments, technology updates and a continuing series for Today called
"Today's Dad", featuring parenting tips for fathers.
Past
honorary doctorate recipients include Shirley MacLaine, Senator Michael
Balboni, NY1's Health Reporter, Cheryl Wills, and Dr. Steven Salvatore
of WNYW FOX 5, among others.
New York
College of Health Professions is one of the leading colleges of holistic
medicine in the United States offering undergraduate and graduate
degree programs in Massage Therapy, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
and a Certificate Program in Holistic Nursing. The College has grown
remarkably in the past several years and will now be entering the
fields of publishing to disseminate information in multiple media
